OCTOBER 19-20-21 – MOUNTAIN HOME:

The Hill n Hollow Quilters Guild is Hosting “Autumn in the Ozarks” on October 19th, 20th and 21st  at the Baxter Country Fairgrounds in Mountain Home. Hours are 9:00 til 5:00 Thursday and Friday and 9:00 til 4:00 on Saturday.  Admission is $5.00- under 12 free.  Free Parking , Handicap Accessible. Lunch and Snacks Available. THURSDAY, OCT 19 – WEST PLAINS:

Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) monthly meeting of Living and Hospice Support Group will be held Thursday, October 19. Each group meeting is designed with a different monthly presentation of topics related to being a caregiver and the world of hospice. After a 15 minute presentation, a peer-to-peer bereavement support group is available for those interested. Light refreshments are provided.

 

OCTOBER 20 – ALTON:

The Alton Bank will have “Pink Day” for Breast Cancer Awareness on Friday, October 20th from 9:00 until 5:00 p.m.  They will be serving Pink cookies and Pink Lemonade all day.

 

SATURDAY, OCT 21 – MTN. VIEW, MO:

The Great Ozarks Duck Dash, a charitable fundraiser by the Mountain View, Thayer-Mammoth Spring, West Plains, West Plains Sunrise, and Willow Springs Rotary Clubs. Ducks are adopted and race down the Jack’s Fork for prizes.  Prizes are awarded to the winners after the race.  This will be held on Saturday, October 21st from 12 pm to 2:00 pm at the South Prong of the Jack’s Fork River, which is located down Y Highway in Mountain View, MO.  The ducks will begin the race at 1 pm. with free admission and free food for those in attendance. To adopt a duck the cost is $5.00 for one duck. A “Quack Pack” of 6 ducks is $25.00; a “Flock of Ducks” which is 25 ducks can be purchased for $100. We will give a prize of $750 for 1st place; $500 for 2nd place, $250 for 3rd place, and the last duck in will win $100.  .  Winners need not be present to win.  Proceeds will go to Rotary’s End Polio campaign.

SATURDAY, OCT 21-CAMP

Crusaders For Life American Cancer Society Relay Team is having yard sale Saturday only 8-5 Gilbert and 8th St. Thayer. All proceeds are to help find a cure and better medicine for those fighting cancer.  Saving lives one dollar at a time!

 

SATURDAY, OCT 21 AND 28–IMBODEN, ARKANSAS

Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department’s 17th annual Haunted House and Haunted Hay ride is October 21st and 28th at the Water Valley Fire Department at 855 Water Valley Road in Imoden, Arkanasas.  Tickets are $5 per person.  Kids games and a concession stand will be available.  The ticket booth is open 5:30 p.m. until 11:30.  The hay ride starts at dusk.  All proceeds benefit the Water Valley Fire Department.

 

OCT 23-27- THAYER FALL CLEAN UP:

The City of Thayer’s Fall clean-up will be held week of October 23rd though the 27th.  No curbside pick-up at residence.  The roll-off container will be by the police station for your convenience.  No electronics, paint, or yard waste to be put in containers.

 

OCT 23-26 – ALTON

The City of Alton will hold clean up week October 23 through Thursday, Oct 26th. No computers, electronics, TV’s or microwaves will be picked up tires, steel, or concrete.  Tree limbs and yard waste are to be put out separate for pickup. Call the City Hall for any questions at 417-778-6321.

THURSDAY, OCT 26 – SPRINGFIELD, MO.

Comedian Chanda Pierce will be appearing at Spence Chapel, University of Missouri in Springfield, Mo. on Thursday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. The University is located at 1111 North Glen Stone Avenue in Springfield.  Phone 800-965-9324.  Kayrn Williams will be the opening act.

FRIDAY, OCT 27 – MAMMOTH SPRING:

Happy Halloween Fundraiser event at the George D Hay Foundation music lane hall south of Mammoth Spring off hiway 63 on Friday, October 27th .  A Chili Cook-off at 5;00 p.m. and a Bake Sale by silent auction to follow.  Cakes and Pies, etc, donated by local bakers will be offered by silent auction.  Dance at 7:00 p.m. with Keith Bradshaw and the Country Connection.  Admission is $5.00. Costume Contest during intermission of the dance.  First, Second and Third place will be awarded. (to enter chili, bring your chili with a donation of $5.00 entry fee for the foundation.  All chili is donated to the foundation for patron purchase.  1st place winner win $75.00, 2nd place $50.00 and 3rd place $25.00.) The South Central Cattlemen’s Fall Cattle Drive will be held Saturday, October 28th at t West Plains Civic Center from 8:00 until 2:00 p.m.  Topics will include soil health, herd health and agriculture economics.  Registration is from 8:00 until 9:00 am. SUNDAY,OCTOBER 29 – THAYER

Hey kids!  Join the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Thayer for Trunk or TREAT Sunday October 29th from 3 to 4 pm. Families are welcome.  Kids, dress up in your Halloween costume and come trick or treat at St. Paul Methodist Church at 111 Business Highway 63 in Thayer.

 

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29TH – ROVER:

The Rover Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Turkey Shoot on Sunday, October 29th at the Rover Gun Club beginning at 12:00 noon.  There will be a raffle drawing for a Savage 308 Bolt Action Rifle with scope. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  $2.50 entry fee for each event, cash payback,  trap, trap doubles, 22’s, splatter board and hand gun. Concession stand open with chili cheese dog, brats, hot dogs, nacho and frito pie, coffee, soda, water and hot chocolate. TUESDAY, OCT 31 – KOSHKONONG:

The 2nd annual Ghouls for Good Trunk or Treat will be held on Tuesday, October 31st at 5:00 p.m. at the Community Park.  The Koshkonong FFA will be at the gate collecting the entry fee of one non-perishable food item per person.  The Koshkonong Assembly of God Church will provide games for the kids and a Hayride.  Best decorated home, best decorated vehicle and best costume will be announced at 8:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.   (info – Cara Cecil 417-270-7554.

NOV 2,3,4, – WEST PLAINS

The St. Lutheran Church at 291 Kentucky Street in West Plains Christmas Craft Show and Chili Fest will be held Thursday and Friday, November 2nd and 3rd from 8:00 till 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov 4th from 8:00 till 4:00. There will be a wide selection of rustic to elegant crafts and décor and the best chili in town, also free apple cider while you shop. Credit cards accepted.

Road Fire Department will hold their “Hunters Meal” on Saturday, November 11th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with Ham and Bean and Chili Supper with all the fixings and desserts.  All Veterans eat Free.  cost is $8.00 for Adults, $4.00 for children 12 and under and preschoolers eat free.  Carry outs available.  There will be a drawing for both the Savage Axis Rifle and the Kitchen Appliance Package.  The BB Road VFD and community center is located on Highway 160, 10 miles east of Alton on CR 225/222.

SATURDAY, DEC 9 – THAYER – Christmas parade

The Thayer Christmas parade will be held Saturday, December 9th beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the Thayer High School.  Parade lineup will begin at 1:00 p.m.  All entries must be clean and decorated, only Christmas music playing on float. Parade entry forms are available here at K-Kountry 95 radio station, Community First Bank, Mammoth Spring Collision, Double 0 Hiway, north of the radio station, and Scott Cecil’s State Farm office by Subway.  If you would like for your float to be judged, there is a $10.00 entry fee.
