JAN 19-20-21 – JAN 26-27-28 – SUMMERSVILLE:

A 38-hour basic fire fighting class will be held at the Summersville Fire Station on Hiway 17.  The training is sponsored bySummersville Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI).  All new firefighters are encouraged to attend, along with Firefighters that haven’t kept up-to-date with tactics and skills.  All departments are invited.  There will be no charge for the classes…lunch will be provided.  For more information call Frank Vogel at 417-247-1927.  Schedule of classes at Summersville Fire Station….

Benefit for Frankie and Ruby Bettis this Saturday January 20th.Their house burned in Mammoth Spring on January 15th. Oregon County registered voters will have the opportunity to vote for candidates running for the University of Missouri Extension Council January 22nd through January 29th. TUESDAY, JAN 23 – WEST PLAINS:

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 695 of West Plains meet Tuesday, January 23rd at 12:00 noon at Chen’s Garden Chinese Restaurant, 1705 Gibson, West Plains. Doyle Fink of Thayer will present a program on the Battle at Verdum, the largest and longest battle of the First World War on the Western Front between the Garman and French armies.  All active and retired federal employees and spouses are invited to attend.

 

TUESDAY, JAN 30 – ALTON:

The University of Missouri Extension Oregon County is holding a Private Pesticide Applicator Training Session on Tuesday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the Oregon County Courthouse basement in Alton.  A $12.00 fee will be charged for the manual..if you are recertifying and have a current manual you will not have to buy a new one. JANUARY 22/23 – West Plains/Gainsville/Mt. Grove

The University of Missouri Howell County Extension office is hosting a seminar on Monday, January 22nd at the extension office, 1376 Bill Virdon Blvd beginning at 6:30.  Cost of the seminar is $10.00.  Seminars will also be in Gainesville at 3:00 p.m. on January 22nd and In Mountain Grove on January 23rd at 3:00 p.m.   Dr. Eric Bailey, MU state extension beef cattle nutritionist and Dr. Craig Payne, MU state extension veterinarian will be visiting south central Missouri and presenting a series of seminars. SATURDAY, JANUARY 27 – WEST PLAINS:

A post season Sportsmen’s Bash and Chili Supper will be held Saturday, January 27th at 5:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church South Campus, 202 Walnut Street, West Plains.  Cost is a $5.00 donation…door prizes.  Guest speaker is Wildlife Biologist and TV Host Dr. Grant Woods.  Bring in your deer antlers to be scored,  prizes will be awarded for the highest scored antlers.  Bring in your best chili to be tested by the judges…prizes awarded for the top chef.  Entry forms are available at the First Baptist church office.  For more information call 417-256-3128.

Wednesday, February 7:- Thayer

The annual St. Jude’s Day at Fred’s Fish House is Wednesday, February 7th.  The entire cost of your meal that day will go toward the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Save the date, eat at Fred’s and help the kids.  The total will be announced at the radio thon on February 14th.

 

Saturday, February 10 – WEST PLAINS

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10 – WEST PLAINS:

The 15th annual Christos House chocolate festival will be held on Saturday, February 10th at “The Barn” Event Center, Hiway 63 South of West Plains at noon…auction begins at 1:00 p.m. Entries are to be at the Barn by 10 a.m. the day of the sale, one for the auction and one for sampling. The annual Andrew Eckman Shelter Insurance Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply K-Kountry Cares for Kids St. Jude Radio thon Wednesday, February 14th on K-Kountry 95, AM 1290 and FM 103.7 The GIFT, and 100.9 The Train.  Radio thon begin at 6:00 a.m. and will continue until 10:00 p.m

 

Fred’s Fish House in Mammoth Spring will have St. Jude Day on Wednesday, Feb 7.  The entire cost of the meal will be donated to St. Jude and the total announced during the radio thon.

 

Case Auction has their fund raising event and auction at the Thayer First Baptist Christian Activity Center on Saturday, Feb 10th.  All items will be auctioned off and 100% goes to St. Jude with the total announced during the radio thon
